The NEXT 30 Days!

Jan 03 2016

I've been a little preoccupied (another way of saying that i have been really slack with my BLOG!) and i have not kept track of this blog.

2016 has already started - it's the 3rd Jan - but i have been crafting my goals for at least a month. So now i want to share my next 30 days with the internet audience (see image below). But first some background before I get to my NEXT 30 Days!.

I conducted an evaluation of 2015 and rendered my focus down to two main goals:

Health and Well-Being

Financial Independence

Yeah I know, broad goals. But what I did was articulate some simple rituals that will provide the metrics for feedback and have the greatest impact on my life moving forward into the rest of 2016. So, my top 10 rituals that I have committed to are:

  1. Write
  2. Eat food fit for my body
  3. Exercise
  4. Karakia (ritual chants)
  5. Yoga
  6. Meditation
  7. Be mindful and aware of each day
  8. Fast (monthly)
  9. Massage (twice a month)
  10. Teach weekly (at University to my post grad students)
So how did i arrive at my list?

I did an evaluation exercise consisting of the following key questions based around key areas:

A NEW BEGINNING

  1. If you could turn back the clock 12 months, what would you change that will have the greatest impact on your life?
  2. 5 years from now, what wold you like to have achieved?
  3. What were the important lessons from 2015?
  4. What were the biggest challenges from 2015?
LIFE DREAM

  1. How do you want to live?
  2. what type of mindset do you want to have?
  3. what type of person do you want to become?
  4. How do you want to spend the rest of your life?
HOW BIG IS YOUR WORLD? (finish each sentence)

  1. If money wasn't a problem . . .
  2. One thing I want to experience is . . .
  3. I would like people to describe me as . . .
  4. One place i would like to visit is . . .
  5. My life would be better if . . .
  6. I wish i knew how to . . .
  7. If i had the courage i would . . .
  8. If i had the time i would . . .
  9. If i could start over i would . . .
MISSION FOR 2016

  1. What would you attempt to do if you knew that you could not fail?
  2. What will your key strategies be for 2016?
  3. Who are the key people in your life?
  4. Why? Describe what you admire about them
  5. What do you see yourself doing in 20 years from now?
  6. If you could spend one day in the greatest library in the world, with access to any knowledge in the world - what would you study?
  7. If you could spend one day with anyone who has ever lived in the history of the world - who would that be, and what would you talk to them about?
  8. What are ten things that you like to do?
  9. What are your natural talents?
  10. A 6 inch beam lies between 2 sky-scrapers - what or who are you willing to cross that bean for?
The series of questions above is how i arrived at what i wanted to focus on that will impact my life in 2016. I know I haven't detailed what each goal looks like or how i am going to achieve them and measure them - maybe a later blog to come.

But below is a glimpse of what i am going to do for the next 30 days!

Tony Robbins: Master the Game of Money

I just purchased the new book by Tony Robbins: Money Mastering the Game after a tip from a mate of mine Alex. Noticed the ad today on FB and jumped right in and nabbed my copy - hardcopy - and managed to get access to the first chapter. I have to wait until 13 Jan 2015 for delivery.

Read the first chapter and noticed a few Interesting quotes:

"Everything we create in our lives
starts with thought"
James Allen

Really interesting first chapter that gives a glimpse into how successful (wealthy) people think about money and how they Master Money and not become the Slave to Money.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the book (when it arrives on my doorstep) - its easy to read, no BS and straight to the point.

And i set a goal for 2015: Financial Freedom

What does that look like? Tell you along the way

Dine on this quote while you're thinking about getting your own copy:

"Riches are not an end in life
but an instrument"
Henry Ward Beecher

Clive Cussler is one of my favourite authors

April
3rd: I picked up 7 Cussler books from a School fair!! - so now its just 'choose one' & read it!

Treasure of Khan - A Dirk Pitt Story
Typical Clive Cussler story telling at its best - he really is a master story teller!

This book reaches back in history to Genghis Khan-the greatest conqueror of all time, who, at his peak, ruled an empire that stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Caspian Sea. His conquests are the stuff of legend, his tomb a forgotten mystery.

When Dirk Pitt is nearly killed rescuing an oil survey team from a freak wave
on Russia's Lake Baikal, it appears a simple act of nature. When the survey team is abducted and Pitt's research vessel nearly sunk, however, it's obvious there's something more sinister involved. All trails lead to Mongolia, and a mysterious mogul who is conducting covert
deals for supplying oil to the Chinese while wreaking havoc on global oil markets utilizing
a secret technology.

The Mongolian harbors a dream of restoring the conquests of his ancestors, and holds a dark
secret about Genghis Khan that just might give him the wealth and power to make that
dream come true.

--naaku noa --

21. Credit Card Debt - - > ZERO!

GOAL 21: Get my Credit Card to ZERO within 6 months!

Why is this tough?
Couple of reasons:
  • Still waiting on a contract to bring in an income - been waiting since beginning of the year (dealing with a crown agency - a little slow!)
  • Breakdown in 'communication' regarding my financial circumstances since the beginning of the year
That said: No point in moaning about it so I am looking at alternatives to bring in an income
  • Forex Market (getting a street-smart education - at light-speed!!)
  • Part-time job 2 nights per week, 8 hours per night!
  • working out how CLICKBANK might turn into another stream of income
  • Scanning through Social Networking sites for ideas & programs
BUT: anyday above ground is a good day!!

Friday 27th Update
Just emerging from a BLACK HOLE!! a DARK CLOUD!!

All good - lost my way for a bit there! - - > My Credit Card Debt shot up to just above $2300 the other day - sent me into a spin!!

But today is a different story!

The LATEST: - - > -$2000

YUP down to - $2000!!!

Things are look a lot brighter!!

Update: 19 November 2009
Funny thing happened before i left to over to Wisconsin for the Indigenous Mapping Network Conference, the BNZ gave me a VISA card with $500 and upgraded my OVERDRAFT limit to $2000!

Back to the CREDIT CARD - i am at zero for both my MASTER-CARD and VISA CARD!!

45. - 50. Complete my PhD

Update: July 6 2010
Got my DRAFT back from my supervisors - i have work to do!!

Update: June 28 2010

I handed in my first draft on June 1 and my second draft on June 10!!
NOW - am waiting for comments to come back to me from my supervisors - hopefully by the end of this month which is in 4 days - THEN i will make final changes and hand it in for examination!!

ALMOST!!

Now here's a tough one!!

GOAL: - - - > To Complete my PhD

So where to now?

March
21st
At the moment i am writing a "Positional Chapter" - this will end up being the introduction to my thesis. Here is where i create a window for those who read my PhD to view my research from my perspective - make any sense?

This is where i make a stand & create a 'position' as a researcher - as a Maori researcher - this is about how i undertook the research totally within the context of my world-view; an Indigenous person 'viewing' of the information i gathered together & blended with modern information technology & techniques (GIS)

Where am i with this chapter?
It was tough kicking this one off - i thought i had it in the bag 2 weeks ago - but when i started reading the literature i was LOST - then i bumped into a friend of mine who has a PhD & is pursuing a PostDoc - & she was writing a similar piece for her research! That short meet-up inspired me & i began writing that very day - & kept on writing!!

So, where am i with this chapter? I have an idea where i need to go with it & i need to set aside a huge block of time in the coming week & write around 5 or 6000 words!

Do-able?
hmmm maybe, just head down and bum up!
